box的複數是boxes，因爲以x結尾的可數名詞，複數要加es。複數指語言中與單數相對，兩個及兩個以上的可數名詞。英語中的可數名詞分爲單數名詞和複數名詞，數量大於“1”的名詞應該用複數名詞來描述。
1、名詞由單數變複數的基本方法
（1）在單數名詞詞尾加s。如：map →maps，boy→ boys，horse→ horses，table→ tables
（2）s，o，x ，sh，ch結尾的詞加es。如：class→classes， box→boxes， hero→heroes，dish→dishes，bench→benches
注意事項：少數以o結尾的詞，變複數時只加s。如：photo→photos，piano→pianos
（3）以輔音字母加y結尾的名詞，變y爲i，再加es。如：family→families，city→cities，party→parties
（4）以f或fe結尾的名詞,變f或fe爲v，再加es。如：shelf→shelves，wolf→wolves，life→lives，knife→knives
2、不規則變化
man→men， woman→women，sheep→sheep，tooth→teeth，fish→fish，child→children， ox→oxen，goose→geese
不可數名詞一般沒有複數形式，說明其數量時，要用有關計量名詞。如：a bag of rice→two bags of rice，a piece of paper→three pieces of paper，a bottle of milk→five bottles of milk
